Reading Across Campus is pleased to announce the winners of the third annual poster competition. From the twenty entries, twelve were chosen by faculty judges to go on display in the A Building in January. Everyone at AUD was invited to vote for their favorite, and the judges also selected a winner. If you saw the finalists, you know that choosing a winner was not easy – the judges were impressed by the artistry and thoughtfulness evident in the entries. The designers found unique ways to evoke the spirit of Fahrenheit 451, focusing on images of fire, books, destruction, and hope.
The People’s Choice winner is Sultan El Halabi. Sultan’s poster used high contrast and silhouette to create a bold image that received the most votes from students and faculty during the poster exhibition.
The Jury winner is Sahar Ghavami. Sahar’s poster reflected both the domestic and broader societal tensions of Bradbury’s book, using imagery of the burning house as well as burning books.
Congratulations to both our winners, and to all who submitted work to this year’s Reading Across Campus poster competition. Keep an eye out for future Reading Across Campus posters announcing more fun book-related events.
