“Limelight”, by Shoug Alsayegh

Limelight

Standing in the limelight,
with a lemon
that life
lent me.

Now sipping on lemonade,
from a straw
that sat
between sanguine lips,
taking slow and steady sips.

Tasting
the tasteless tension,
that tugs upon
tense heart strings.

Dreading
the dire drama,
that demands
to be dealt with.

Wanting, waiting,
and wishing
wishes would
awaken.

But,
I go back to

standing in the limelight,
with a lemon
that life
lent me.

Sipping on lemonade,
from a straw
that sat
between sanguine lips.

Taking
Slow,
and steady
sips.
