Cloud Chamber

I saw the Star of Bethlehem,
in the deepest, darkest night:
the Holy Comet on His path
to illuminate my own,
showing me the way,
with His gift of light,
on the second day of Christmas;
that was Boxing Day.
So, in keeping with tradition,
I received the present
at an exhibition,
‘Science & Sensbility’ 
of His presence in a box:
Through a glass most darkly
I could look inside
to glimpse in awe,
through fog and night
the endless universe,
spreading out in front of me.
The label says, “Here you can see
the traces of the energies
that at all times and constantly
dance all around as well as though us.”
Stars lit up, then vanished,
extinguishing without a sound,
like comets streaking
‘cross the boxed-in skies,
lighting up their individual trajectories,
each one on its individual path                                                
from the beginning to the end.                                       
And one of them went right                                            
to my soul’s deepest heart,                                                  
flooding me with numinosity,                                        
made me gasp just for a moment:                                   
All His Holiness inside of me?
