“Dark Arts”, by Rich Glinnen

“Dark Arts”

While holding the baby,
I turned off the bathroom light,
Then I turned it on.
Then she, with her spongy brain,
Turned it off.
Then we stood—
Well, I stood—
While she mumbled
And fumbled in the dark,
Unable to mimic my alchemy,
To clear smoke
From the mirror.
